One day to Haiti!

Hello, and welcome to my Haiti blog!  I am so glad you stopped by.

I can not begin to tell you how thrilled I am to be going on this adventure.  Adventure is the right word!  If you had asked me two weeks ago I would have told you that an overseas missions trip for me was out of the question.  But God thought otherwise - within a span of 72 hours I went from 1) getting the invitation to go to 2) praying about the invitation to 3) saying yes to the invitation to 4) having the trip entirely paid for!  I was in a constant state of awe for those hours, believe me!  So many people have offered their prayer and financial support for this and I am deeply grateful for that.    So this blog is a way to keep those of you who have offered your support in one way or another to keep up with us and see what God is doing in Haiti.   Thanks for reading!

Today is a packing day for us (there are three gals from Minnesota going on the trip) and this evening we will drive up to Northfield to stay with friends of our contact in Haiti.   These "friends we haven't met yet" offered their home to us for the night, a place to park my car and a free ride to the airport in the morning - which is brave because our flight leaves Minneapolis at 5:30 am!   Our heroes!   The other very important step in this trip for me is transporting my little dog Zoey to my parents' place.   They are looking forward to the bonding time with their little grand-dog.  I don't know if Zoey's looking forward to it, though.   I think she's in denial.

Tomorrow is our big travel day - I'll try to post something either at our destination or on the way there.  Internet access may be sketchy, but I'll find a way.  And for those of you who are asking for specific prayer requests I will post them here as well.   In fact, we already have some prayer needs:

Please be praying for two of our Haiti contact's work partners.   These two men work with our contact and are lined up to help with transportation, translation and to be general "protectors" for us.   They were both involved in vehicle accidents in the past two days.  From what I hear they are fine but are a bit banged up.   Pray for healing and restoration for these two men and pray for God's blessings for them as they offer their assistance and service to us.

Be praying, too, for travel mercies as we go.  I am the only veteran at overseas travel in the group (which isn't saying much) and I am the only person that remotely understands French.  (Not the primary language in Haiti but a close second.  Again, my language experience isn't saying much.)  I will feel much better when we are on the ground and through the airport.    Thanks for your prayers!

I still have a lot to pack so I will keep this short.   And just because I can, here's a picture of my Zoey.   Does she look like she's in denial?

In His grip,
Beth
