A Night for Orphans

The Bean Coffee Club, 135 S. Broadway Ave., Wells, MN

Music, great coffee and sweet treats are all yours to enjoy when you stop by The Bean in Wells on Friday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m. for “A Night For Orphans,” a fundraising benefit for an orphanage in Mexico.

Join Beth Crosby, Ruthie Webster and Courtney Terhark for an evening of Christian music while enjoying your favorite specialty coffees and sweet treats. A $5.00 one-day pass to The Bean gets you all the coffee you can drink, and free-will donations will be received throughout the evening for Casa de las Gemas, an orphanage located in Guadalupe, Mexico.

Casa de las Gemas, which translates to “the house of gems,” is a two-story building in the shape of a cross that will soon serve as a home and sanctuary to over 200 orphans. Casa de las Gemas is located near Juárez, México, where 7,000 children are living on the streets. Officials with the Mexican government have promised to fill the property with children within 24 hours of the orphanage’s opening.

When completed, Casa de Las Gemas will be one of the largest orphanages in Latin America. The main building is already 95% completed and the cafeteria is 60% complete. Though construction on the property is nearly completed, there is still a lot of work to be done and help is needed to give children a home.
